STAMFORD, Conn.—Sidney Lipschitz saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on May 7, 2026, at The Palace Theatre.

“I enjoyed every part of it. It was excellent, the dancing, the choreography, the music, the history was beautiful,” said Mr. Lipschitz, a retired dental sales manager.

Shen Yun, based in New York, is on a mission to present “China before communism” and to revive people’s connection to 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and culture.

“The entire story inspired me because of the culture of the Chinese people. It’s very, very interesting, very old, and very ancient. Goes back thousands of years. Almost to the time of creation of the world,” Mr. Lipschitz said.

Shen Yun’s artists are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.

“I would say that your performance was excellent. It was very meaningful, and there was a lot of meaning behind the performance that they put on, and you can recognize the hard work and effort that they put into to succeed and excel in what they were doing. Take a lot of pride in what they do,” Mr. Lipschitz said.

Although Shen Yun is sharing the beauty of Chinese culture with the world, Shen Yun is unable to perform in China. This season, threats to various theaters around the world where Shen Yun was set to perform can also be traced to the Chinese Communist Party.

Mr. Lipschitz expressed that Shen Yun is “Absolutely relevant to the current world. The communists don’t want us to learn about this, they don’t believe in any of that.”

Shen Yun’s website says, “China was once known as “The Land of the Divine.” Mr. Lipschitz saw that some of his faith was reflected in Shen Yun.

“I was discussing that with my wife very briefly and saying that there’s a tremendous parallel. There’s a creator in heaven that creates everything and continues to create everything as we live, and it’s all part of Chinese culture,” he shared.
With 5,000 years of history and literature to draw on, Shen Yun can put on an all-new production every year.

“I think the effort was fulfilled, the effort priceless, excellent, something that has to be passed on to generations,” Mr. Lipschitz said.
