PHILADELPHIA—Shen Yun Performing Arts gave the audience at the Miller Theater an afternoon to remember on May 7. Frank and Kathy Licata totally enjoyed the performance.
Mrs. Licata, a teacher, said, “It’s lovely. ... They really seem to just put their heart and soul into it. I can look at their faces. It’s beautiful, like they have a lot of joy in what they’re doing.”
Mr. Licata, a retired CFO, said, “The dancing is just phenomenal.”
The dancing is enhanced by Shen Yun’s patented backdrop where the dancers can jump into the other dimensions.
Mrs. Licata said, “With the backdrop, they jump and then all of a sudden they’re on video. I mean, it’s like perfection. It’s very well done. I know. It’s my first time seeing it.”

The couple sat close to the stage and felt the energy of the dancers up close and personal. “Amazing,” Mr. Licata said. “Everybody’s got so much energy. So much energy. ... It’s incredible. They do a wonderful job.”
He said the synchronization was “remarkable” in how the dancers do everything at the same time.
One of the dance stories comes into the present with the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and organ harvesting. “It’s a shame, though, that they can’t practice their faith. It’s a shame,” Mrs. Licata said.
“It’s a stark contrast. You even showed it between China today and what China was,” Mr. Licata said.
Mr. Licata said, “I would have loved to go into China. I’ve been to a lot of places, but not China.” After seeing Shen Yun, he was most impressed with “the beauty of the people. Without a doubt.”
He said that “anybody who loves dancing, ballet, or the arts would really enjoy this show. It’s very relaxing and it’s extremely entertaining. And it’s a beautiful [show].”
