PHOENIX, Ariz.—Huck Kusner felt a connection with the performers as he watched Shen Yun’s performance with his wife, Pastora, at Symphony Hall on March 6.
He’s a pastor but also says he is a gold medal winner in the American Taekwondo Association, and said he enjoyed the physical talents of the dancers.
“When you can get people in sync, together, it speaks of a lot of work and dedication,” he said.
Mr. Kusner said he was very inspired by the dancers’ skills. He has a world title with the American Taekwondo Association—a gold medal in weapons and a silver medal in sparring. “The inspiration that I get is more along the lines of the physical ability of the people to do this.”
“It is a high standard.” Mr. Kusner said. “It’s easy to see, so I appreciate that. There’s the tremendous amount of work. And then what you don’t see on stage is probably happening in everyone’s life, and that is adversity to make everyone come together, to make that happen.”
“We’re human beings, and there’s adversity that we all face, and you can still come together and pull a lot of success off,” he said.
Mrs. Kusner, a dentist, said, “Oh, it is so beautiful. So synchronized. So harmonious. It’s just very, very beautiful. And like my husband says, all the work that was put into it, it’s incredible. It is very beautiful. It is inspirational.”
