SYDNEY—Jagdish Lodhia, a jeweler, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on March 24 at Sydney Lyric Theatre.

“It’s an absolutely beautiful [performance] because it’s so mesmerizing. I was just on top of the seat throughout. One after the other, everything was just so perfect,” Mr. Lodhia said.

He shared that he will be bringing his grandchildren to see Shen Yun because he loved the experience.

Shen Yun, based in New York, is on a mission to present “China before communism,” and revive people’s connection with 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and culture.

“I think they should bring [the culture] back, because it’s a very important thing in life. [Culture] is where people have more respect for people, the children are taught the right things to do. Right now, the world is going towards a disaster. And the old culture is slowly dying out—we want that culture to come back,” Mr. Lodhia said.

Shen Yun’s artists are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.

“The synchronization is just too good. I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s so beautifully done and so well performed, so well executed. It’s just beautiful,” Mr. Lodhia said.

He shared that every new dance he saw seemed to top the last one. “Every one of them is the best, and they have done extremely well.”

Mr. Lodhia was moved by Shen Yun’s depiction of the Creator and the divine, stating that people, especially children, need to believe in the existence of the divine.

“If you ask the children, ‘Is there a God up there?’ nobody believes in it anymore. … If the young kids are losing it, they should come back and see this program, where they will be able to realize what the reality of life is,” he said.

Mr. Lodhia was so impressed with Shen Yun’s Artistic Director, D.F. He shared his praise, saying,

“He must be sent by God himself. Because the way he’s created things and shown us the actual old culture, the tradition—it has a lot of value in it. It is very important, and we are losing it now. We should come back to it. I think he’s doing a fantastic job creating this.

Shen Yun’s use of its digital backdrop is patented. The versatility of the technology allows the set to change scenes in the blink of an eye, giving the stage endless possibilities.

“It’s unbelievable the way they do it. They take the people into the sky and on the screen. It’s so efficiently done that one cannot tell that it’s just on the screen. It’s just too good. It’s absolutely awesome. And I loved it. I loved every performance,” Mr. Lodhia said.
