Among them was John Le Bonniec, head of marketing for a theme park, who said the performance revealed the profound spirit of traditional Chinese culture. He felt that the artists were inspired by a “Creator” and conveyed the essence of divinely-inspired Chinese culture through their artistry.
“I imagine it comes from the culture itself,” Mr. Le Bonniec said. “It is a very profound culture, and they speak a lot about the Creator. I believe that ultimately this inspires and moves them. And through the music, the colors, and the costumes, they transmit it to us.”
Mr. Le Bonniec was particularly touched by the sincerity expressed by Shen Yun’s dancers on stage.
“When you watch the performers—in their dances and in their faces—you can see that they truly feel it,” he said. “They are not inventing anything. They are living their history and expressing it through those incredible dances. And the colors are wonderful.”
“It is very bold—very bold and necessary,” Mr. Le Bonniec said. “For us Europeans, Chinese culture is still relatively unknown. The fact that we can come closer to it, and especially see something we normally cannot see because it is forbidden, brings us incredibly close to Chinese culture.”
Describing the overall experience, he called the performance “exquisite.”
“It’s incredible—something I truly recommend to everyone,” he said. “It presents a very deep history—not only of a country, but of a culture.”
He concluded with a heartfelt recommendation for others to see the show for themselves.
“Come and see it,” he said sincerely. “Come experience it and live it—without a doubt.”
