AMNÉVILE, France—High jewelry artist Danièle-Christine Giglio and her husband Giancarlo d’Elia, a company CEO, had a wonderful time at Shen Yun Performing Arts’ matinee at Galaxie Amnéville on Dec. 19.

“I am very moved,” Ms. Giglio said at the end of the performance. “It’s a very spiritual message.”

“What touched me was the reality of the message the performance offered. I find it very concrete,” she said.

For thousands of years, Chinese people were deeply spiritual, guided in their values and daily lives by the teachings of Buddhism, Daoism, and Confucianism. In the decades since the communist regime seized power, however, traditional Chinese culture was pushed to the brink of extinction.
Based in New York, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture and showcase to the world the beauty of China before communism.
Mr. d’Elia had read many approving reviews about Shen Yun before purchasing the tickets, and after seeing it in person, he couldn’t agree more.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce Chinese culture to the world, because we don’t really know it—most people don’t,” he said. “It’s a beautiful approach, very visual with the multimedia. The artists are magnificent.”

He especially enjoyed the company’s innovative 3D technology that creates seamless interaction between the backdrop projection and the performers on stage.

“It’s brilliant. It’s so well done that at one point, when the water goes in and out, it feels so natural. It’s exceptional,” he said.

Ms. Giglio said she appreciated the artists’ message about the divine. “It aligns with my view of the world, that light will prevail,” she said.

She was pleasantly surprised by how openly the Shen Yun performers expressed their faith.

“It’s very beautiful to have the courage to present such values on a global stage. What’s promoted everywhere now is human corruption—there’s no longer greatness of soul, no spiritual elevation, no search for light, virtues, and higher values,” she said.

“I received [the message] perfectly—five out of five—because I’m in tune with it. You either are, or you aren’t. You can’t fabricate these things; it is of the divine.”
