“Even though we come from different cultures, the show speaks in a language that everyone can understand. It’s truly beautiful,” he said.
His wife, Nimmi Jobanputra, agreed, adding that the performance holds particular value for young people. “If students around the world could see a show like this, they would gain a deeper understanding of this unique and mysterious country,” she said.
On the evening of Jan. 17, the Jobanputras attended New York-based Shen Yun Global Company’s sixth performance at London’s Eventim Apollo, where they found themselves fully immersed in the artistic experience.
Mr. Jobanputra is an associate director at a leading international architecture and engineering consultancy, while Mrs. Jobanputra serves as head of geography at a secondary school.
“Brilliant show,” Mr. Jobanputra said. “It was such an immersive experience—completely mesmerizing and wonderful. The synchronization of the dancers, the music, and the orchestral accompaniment was just outstanding.”
He was equally impressed by the animated backdrop. “Fantastic,” he said. “It really added to setting the scenes.”
Mr. Jobanputra also appreciated the lighthearted moments woven into the performance, which balanced learning with joy.
The show’s spiritual dimension resonated deeply with the couple.
“I really liked the messaging throughout the performance,” Mr. Jobanputra said. “It shows that no matter where you come from or what your mindset is, ultimately we are all one.”
Mrs. Jobanputra added that this sense of universality is rooted in compassion. “Kindness and compassion—same as Buddha’s nature,” she said.
Mr. Jobanputra further emphasized the importance of belief and moral values. “Belief is a big theme,” he said. “Be kind to one another, because in the end, you reap what you sow.”
Deeply moved, the Jobanputras expressed heartfelt appreciation for the artists. “Keep doing what you’re doing,” Mr. Jobanputra said. “You’re phenomenally talented, and we look forward to seeing you again next year.”
Mrs. Jobanputra added that she also hopes to return and continue learning more about Chinese culture.
