SALT LAKE CITY—Mandy Woeller and Kort Woeller saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on March 18 at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater.
“This is my fourth time coming because it’s so beautiful. And I love the message about being true to what you believe, even when it’s hard,” shared Ms. Woeller.
“The artists were very engaging, very beautiful people, their spirit, you could feel it,” said Mr. Woeller, a software engineer.
He added that he could see the commitment of the artists and that he is grateful for it.
“The dance moves are very technical, so it’s hard to do, but very beautiful. … I know they start so young, and they give so much of their life to this, dedicated to this beautiful art. So it’s a lot of sacrifice,” she said.
“They are flawless, very smooth. Obviously, they’ve been training so hard, and they work so hard. They can do flips even at the end of the show, so they just have such strength and stamina,” Mr. Woeller said.
The couple sat next to two young girls during the performance. They could hear the girls’ remarks.
“They had beautiful dresses on. They dressed up for the show. And a few times, the one little girl would look at her grandmother and just say, oh, that’s so beautiful,” Mr. Woeller shared.
He added that seeing Shen Yun makes people feel good and inspires them.
Shen Yun’s dance stories portray the modern true story of Falun Dafa practitioners being persecuted for their faith in China. Falun Dafa is a peaceful practice that teaches the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
Mr. Woeller expressed that he saw the necessity of “religious freedom, freedom in general.”
He felt the wish for everyone, “to live in peace. It’s just a wonderful experience. We enjoyed it. So we made it a tradition. To try to come see it each year.”
“The music—incredible. We’re not looking for flaws, but there just weren’t any. It was flawless. Such incredible performance,” Mr. Woeller said.
