ORLANDO, Fla.—Orthodontist James Sislow and his wife, Lois, a newspaper editor turned teacher, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts for the first time on April 28, at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
They enjoyed the matinee so much that they are already planning to return next season.
“I love the show. It was great, I really enjoyed it. First time we’ve been here, and we’ll definitely come back,” Mr. Sislow said happily. “The costumes were excellent. The dancing was fantastic. It was just an excellent show the whole time.”
He especially appreciated the storyline dances.
“It definitely is [a spiritual show.] I look at it as sort of a Chinese opera with no singing; it’s all done by dance. They did a very good job.”
Mrs. Sislow also had a wonderful time. She enjoyed every element of the performance. “It was excellent,” she praised. “It was really great, the dancing, the singing—everything. It was wonderful. It was a fantastic show.”
“I have to compliment them and the way they carry themselves. Very, very nice,” he said. “They’re always smiling, they compose themselves extremely well.”
Their message of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance should be for everybody, especially today, because the world is a little crazy. We need tolerance.”
“It teaches kindness and compassion,” she said. They are working to bring China’s “ancient philosophy back into the world today. I just think everything was great, from the costumes to the dancing to the singing to the message that they send. It was great.”
It’s about returning “to tradition and kindness and compassion and the old Chinese [values.] The whole thing was really good. Made you feel good.”
“A very unique show and a very moving show,” he added.
