LUBLIN, Poland—On the evening of Jan. 16, the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts arrived in Lublin, the final stop of its Polish tour. The first performance at the Opera Hall of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures was sold out well in advance. Shen Yun’s extraordinary visual and musical qualities, along with its moving spiritual content, made a deep impression on the audience.
Ms. Małgorzata Kasperska, deputy chief accountant of a logistics company, said: “It was truly amazing, both in how it was performed and how it was presented. The beautiful costumes, and the amount of work the artists put into them is clearly visible. I am very impressed.”

Mr. Paweł Rudaś, a geneticist, said: “An incredible message. I didn’t expect this from the performance either. I was more expecting to get to know some folklore, whereas I didn’t expect it to have such a strong, coherent, and consistent message. There is a lot about God, a lot about love, and a lot about values according to which we should all live, but which we somehow lose in the rush of life. So for me personally, it was a very philosophical experience, very metaphysical. Incredible, truly incredible, going beyond sound and image, very spiritual.”

He was surprised that Shen Yun is unable to perform in China. “We know that there is censorship in China, but we didn’t know that this group does not work in China, that it is not, so to speak, supported by the Chinese government. It is very sad to me that while promoting their country, in fact promoting the best values that come from that country, they have to do so from abroad and are censored by that country.

“The Chinese authorities generally seem not to like God and do not like any spirituality or any religion—as [they are] socialist authorities. For them, the power is man, not God. And this is very sad, because the artists carry a very strong message. And it is very sad that they cannot have this in their own country,” he said.

Mr. Michał Szydłowski and his wife, Ms. Elżbieta Szydłowska, attended the first performance by Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Opera Hall of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures, in Lublin ,on Jan. 16, 2026 (NTD).
Mr. Michał Szydłowski and his wife, Ms. Elżbieta Szydłowska, attended the first performance by Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Opera Hall of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures, in Lublin ,on Jan. 16, 2026 (NTD).

Another audience member, Mr. Michał Szydłowski, a business owner, described his feelings as follows: “I felt very good. Watching this performance gave me a great deal of joy. The joy that flowed directly from the faces of the participants of this show, the dancers, the female host, and the male host, emanated from them all the time. Joy and a message of positive emotions were radiating from these people.”

Ms. Elżbieta Szydłowska, Mr. Szydłowski’s wife, emphasized: “[It was] a wonderful performance, beautiful stories that were both moving and humorous, beautiful, colorful costumes, and splendid artistry in the execution. In addition, the beautiful music played live is certainly a great asset to this performance.

“I think that even though we didn’t understand a single word spoken by the female host, all these stories told through dance are universal and understandable to a person, even if they don’t know the language. Dance is precisely such a universal form of communication.”

Shen Yun is not only a feast for the eyes, but also carries profound spiritual content. Viewers in Lublin admitted with surprise that the performance was an extraordinary experience for them.
Mr. Szydłowski said that what deeply moved him were “truth, kindness, emotions, the hope that is conveyed [in the performance], and the element of faith and spirituality that was communicated.”
Mr. Szydłowski said that there were solemn and moving moments in the performance, “especially those touching on the emotional theme of good versus evil, the struggle between good and evil,” adding: “And that truth and goodness always win. This was shown at a certain moment during the dance.”

Audience members unanimously recommend seeing Shen Yun.

Ms. Szydłowska said, “Every story had a moral. Universal values were conveyed about humanity and life. There is certainly an educational element. I think the stories that were told are universal and timeless.”

Mr. Rudaś said: “It’s more than you expect.”

Mr. Rudaś also purchased the book ‘Zhuan Falun,’ hoping for further spiritual development. “I was told that this is the book according to which the artists live. I only quickly looked through the table of contents, and I believe we will grow through [reading] this book.”

Ms. Szydłowska said, “It is definitely worth seeing this performance. Wonderful.”

“I think it’s also worth getting to know the culture and seeing something more than what we have known so far about this country, about China,” added Mr. Szydłowski.

Ms. Kasperska said, “It’s worth it. It’s culture, it’s learning, it’s a nice outing together, a great way to spend time. I wholeheartedly recommend it.”
