“It lit up my heart,” company president Wu Hui-Ling said. “Watching it from beginning to end, my heart was illuminated. It just kept shining and shining and shining. It was truly a wonderful performance that moved me deeply,” she added.
Lai Hsui-Mei, the founding advisor of Kiwanis International in National Changhua University of Education, said, “I thought that since I had already watched it three times, it might not have moved me that much, but I still shed tears today and felt very touched. It was truly flawless.
“I can say that their dance skills, the music, the choreography, and especially the animated backdrop, was all so perfectly coordinated. The costumes and everything else were so perfectly matched. I highly recommend it, which is why I brought all my best friends.”
Changhua County Magistrate Wang Huei-Mei was also in attendance, and praised the artists for carrying traditional Chinese culture forward for the next generation.
“Shen Yun’s performance will make you feel very relaxed, and you will feel an elevation of your mind, body, and spirit,” Ms. Wang said. “Ten minutes on stage requires ten years of practice off stage. Seeing their rigorous training, the performance truly embodies truth, goodness, and beauty. This is what we have been working to cultivate from a young age, using arts and culture to allow children to experience beauty and art in their daily lives, so that everyone can achieve better physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.”
Through classical Chinese dance, live orchestral music, original storytelling, and animated special effects, Shen Yun seeks to revive 5,000 years of “China before communism.”
“The essence of China’s 5,000 years of history, culture, legends, and stories can be presented through dance, allowing the audience to quickly connect with it in their spirit and in their daily lives. This way of presentation preserves the good and virtuous aspects [of the culture] like a sieve. Keeping the good, the essential, and the virtuous while filtering out the dross. I think this is quite beneficial for the general public,” Chien Shih-Lang, who is a professor of humanities and social sciences in Jinan University, said.
“The performance tells stories of many different eras, and it conveys this essence and energy to every audience member in a very short time,” artistic director Hasegawa Akira said. “I was not only moved by this spirit but also filled with positive energy.”
“When the backdrop first started up, I saw many immortals and Buddhas coming down from above. Then, I vaguely saw myself in it, and I had completely forgotten that we all have missions, that everyone comes with a mission. But because we have these senses, eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind, we become somewhat disoriented. Then, I suddenly felt myself awaken, and my inner light was ignited,” Ms. Wu said.
“We should allow this love and gift from Heaven to flourish in the world. To feel the inner divine connection allows us to experience all the beauty and great principles of this world. Such a perfect performance is truly remarkable,” art resort general manager Huang Shuo-Chi said.
“Shen Yun has given us a lot of energy and I hope this energy can pass on to everyone who comes to see Shen Yun next time,” Mr. Hasegawa said.
