SYDNEY, Australia—Canterbury Bankstown City Councilor Wendy Lindsay had a wonderful time at Shen Yun’s matinee on March 25, at the Sydney Lyric. Captivated by the beauty of the performance, she encourages everyone to “definitely come and see it.”
“It’s amazing. There’s something in it for everyone,” she shared. “The costumes are amazing, and the amount of rehearsal and practice it would take to perform some of those moves is just unbelievable. Really beautiful and perfect.”
Its production is comprised of a series of short pieces that take its audience on a ride through the dynasties and across the vast regions of China. Using classical Chinese, folk, and ethnic dances, as well as solo musical performances, Shen Yun tells tales from ancient times to the modern day.
Ms. Lindsay loved every element of the performance and said she couldn’t find a single fault.
“I think the whole thing is amazing, really. It’s pure perfection, and they make it look so easy. It’s amazing. Beautiful. Very, very beautiful show,” she exclaimed.
She also appreciated that, beyond presenting classical Chinese stories, Shen Yun highlights the importance of faith and traditional values, while shedding light on human rights issues in present-day China.
“The cultural part of [Shen Yun] is certainly of interest, but I think, too, it’s how it transforms into today’s world. It’s just very well put together,” Ms. Lindsay said.
“It’s amazing. It’s unbelievable, definitely.”
“I think the language isn’t a barrier. You can come and see the show without speaking any form of Chinese or any other dialect,” she said.
“From that perspective, anyone can come and see the show because you can see the story being performed without having any words. … It’s so beautiful. Definitely, come along.”
