PHOENIX—Brenda Anderson, an executive at a legal services firm, enjoyed an enchanting afternoon watching Shen Yun Performing Arts together with her mother and sister-in-law in Phoenix Symphony Hall on March 5.
Ms. Anderson said that she and her 87-year-old mother watched Shen Yun a few years ago, and since her mom wanted to watch it again, “so here we are!”
“[The performance] is very heartfelt, touching, and beautiful.” Ms. Anderson said, “It’s sending a message to the world, we need more love and kindness. We need to be more caring. Out with the evil and in with the good, right?”
Speaking about Shen Yun’s dance dramas that depict the destruction of traditions and spiritual belief in China, “it’s brave of them to be willing to put it out there and be in a show like this, it’s very courageous.” Ms. Anderson said, “They have love and respect and tradition and grace.’
Ms. Anderson’s sister-in-law, Michelle Anderson, continued to say, “I was really surprised that they couldn’t perform in their own country. That’s sad. That is so sad, because it’s probably the best thing from their country.”
