Shen Yun Performing Arts received a warm welcome in Bari, Italy, on Jan. 30. The audience traveled through scenes from ancient China with an innovative backdrop, a live orchestra, bel canto singing, and classical Chinese dance. Audience members praised the high-level performance for its artistry.

“The perfect, talented artists, exceptional music, and the colors give you a real feeling of beauty and harmony. In short, it was all magical,” business owner Gianfranco Nicastri said.

Lawyer Francesco De Santis said, “The impact was immediately very emotional because of the colors. They bring joy, so this unites the entire show from beginning to end—this explosion of colors and beauty, especially in the images projected on the screen.”

“Beautiful, stunning. It was the first time seeing something like this and what struck me most were the women’s costumes. Fabulous, very pastel colors, but also vivid and this detail struck me a lot,” entrepreneur Maria Cannito said.

Maria Chiara Bavaro, a lawyer, said “We appreciated the soprano because we are used to hearing singers, sopranos. It was very good, and so was the pianist.”

Inspired by China’s 5,000 years of divinely-inspired culture and values, Shen Yun aims to revive a heritage the Chinese Communist Party has sought to erase since taking power in 1949. The company’s performances, which present “China before communism,” also bring to light the brutal persecution of faith in modern China under the communist regime. Because of that, the company currently cannot perform in China.

Mr. De Santis said, “Above all, the message conveyed by the company, by the artists, by the show, is to continue on a path of kindness and to revisit family traditions in order to always have a better world than the one we are unfortunately living in today.

“To the artists, I can only say magnificent. The orchestra was wonderful and deeply moving, and the entire musical journey was delicate and in perfect harmony with the artists who performed.”

Vincenzo Fortunato, a non-commissioned officer in the Italian Air Force, said, “We hope that, over time, this culture will be brought back to life and there will be freedom of expression, because it is very important in our times.”

Rossella Piccoli, a bank director, said, “We hope that with this performance, you will succeed in making yourselves heard in the world, in making your voices heard, and in bringing this wonderful dance back to your country.”

Shen Yun will be performing in Eckbolsheim, France, from Feb. 2–5.
