MIAMI—Business owner Serguei Mata was very excited to attend Shen Yun’s evening performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 23, after hearing good things about it from his subscription to the Epoch Times and NTD News.

“I love those channels because it’s real news, and everyone was talking about the show Shen Yun. We’re so excited that we came. We loved it, and we highly recommend it to everyone,” he said enthusiastically.

“I can’t wait for the next year to come, [so we can] see the 2025 show. It’s beautiful and beyond our expectations. The synchronization, the performance of everything—it was amazing.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture. Before the communist party spread atheism throughout the country, Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism formed the basis of Chinese life.

Mr. Mata loved that Shen Yun is committed to bringing back these values.

“The show depicts China before communism. That’s a view that most people don’t know now because [the communists] forced everyone to see what they want you to see and not what China really is. It’s sad because Chinese people, we love them [but] they’re suffering,” he expressed.

“I’m Cuban, and we’ve experienced communism in our country. [Under that system,] everyone doesn’t have the same opportunity in life. This show reflects that and shows us the real China. It’s amazing, just as my country was. It’s sad how communism destroys all places.”

He also enjoyed the concept of spirituality and the divine that pervaded the entire performance.

“That was amazing. It’s also something communism doesn’t want us to see or share because they want to destroy and remove God from our lives,” he said. “We as human beings need a Creator, and we need to be in contact with him.”

The persecution of faith “is something that shouldn’t happen. It’s something that we condemn and we don’t want in this country but unfortunately, we see that it’s arriving. We highly recommend [people to see Shen Yun because] it is a way to support people that are trying to give everyone the truth about China.”

Mr. Mata added that he understands the performers are facing a lot of pressure from the Chinese Communist Party as the regime is trying to “silence the show and prevent people from knowing the truth through the show.”

He hopes that the artists, “despite the obstacles, the tribulations, and everything—continue [performing] because, in the end, we have reward from God.”
