TUCSON, Ariz.—Kaden McCulloch and Laura Porter saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall on March 1.
“It was wonderful. I thought it was a really beautiful portrayal of the diversity of Chinese cultures from across the country. And I thought that it was really interesting to like kind of see the breadth and depth of that,” said Ms. Porter, Executive Director at Our Lady of Life Ministry.
“Keeping with the ways of God and living a virtuous life and staying towards the tradition. That really stuck with me,” Ms. Porter said.
Technology makes searching for information fast and easy, but Mr. McCulloch feels that society is looking for deeper connections that technology isn’t able to provide.
“The dance was very unique. I’ve never seen anything like that. It was beautiful, very expressive,” Ms. Porter said.
Shen Yun presents true Chinese culture, but the values that it upholds are universal.
Ms. Porter expressed her appreciation for Shen Yun’s depiction of “the natural roles given to us by God. That really shines through their movements. [There is] a deep, eternal purpose within each one of us. And then the name Shen Yun, [it] defines inner beauty.”
“I really enjoyed the singing and the words and the message of not following modern thought and going towards tradition and following a moral law within, and God,” Ms. Porter said.
