BURGOS, Spain—Marta Arroyo Ortega, member of the Parliament of Castilla & Leon, and her husband Francisco Javier Pino García attended a performance by the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Fórum Evolución Theatre on March 19.
Ms. Arroyo was very impressed by the whole performance, “Impressive, impressive,” she said. “The show is really cool; the visuals are spectacular, the choreography, everything is perfectly coordinated—the performers are impressive. The music is amazing; that orchestra is top-notch. And then the historical part is also very interesting—it tells us a bit about Chinese culture, which, for me, makes this a 10 out of 10 show.”
“[Shen Yun] is doing a great job and they’re sure to succeed, because they draw us into Chinese culture in a very visual way, through the performance, not in such a theoretical way,” she said.
“I hope they keep touring, that we get to see them here again, because honestly, it was amazing and we really enjoyed it,” she said.
Mr. Pino, who works for the Provincial Council, was equally impressed by the performance. “It is very beautiful, very beautiful, spectacular, and incredible,” he said.
“The scene where they demand freedom moved me the most,” he said. “They demanded things that are necessary for any civilized country.”
“The technique, the live music, everything was spectacular. It was absolutely amazing,” Ms. Arroyo said. “I’m delighted to have been able to experience and enjoy it.”
They said they wished to encourage more people to see Shen Yun.
“If you have the chance to see it in your cities, don’t miss it,” Ms. Arroyo said. “It’s worth it for everything I’ve mentioned. Not just the artistic aspect, the choreography, the live music, which is like going to a concert. Plus, you get the chance to experience, from this artistic perspective, a little bit of Chinese culture, which is super interesting. I encourage everyone who has the chance to see this show come to their city not to miss it.”
