MIAMI, Fla.—On the evening of March 13, Shen Yun Performing Arts raised the curtain at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami. Audience members praised the artists for bringing such a beautiful experience.

“This is absolutely my first time seeing the show, and I cannot wait to share it with people who have never heard of you before,” motivational speaker Linda Blackman said. “It’s an incredible experience, from the animation, to the colors, to the storytelling. Absolutely, absolutely incredible. Thank you.”

“This was the first time. It was very interesting for me because I am a third-generation Chinese,” business consultant Debbie Faris said. “My great-grandparents emigrated in the early 1900s so I don’t have much of Chinese culture left. But this was very interesting because I got to see and learn something. So it was very good.”

Andrea Cano, an insurance broker, said, “The show is amazing. You can see the culture, the hard work, the clothing, the music, everything was amazing.”

Shen Yun seeks to remind its audience of China’s rich 5,000 years of traditional culture from “China before communism.” Audience members resonated with the message of spirituality and divinity from the performance.

Ms. Blackman added, “From the messaging about the Divine: that we’re all meant to be here, that we’re all meant to take the path, and we’re all supposed to come here and see this, and it’s supposed to reawaken our spirit,”

“I really enjoyed the musicality of it. But in addition, I felt that when you had the English translation of the song, it was more meaningful. And I felt that the program was all very well woven together to bring a message, show what the culture was like, the issues of communism, and the beautiful message at the end, so it was a wonderful presentation,” Ms. Faris said. “There was a lot of morality in the stories, all of the stories that were portrayed. It was really good for young children to see, for adults, it was a very appropriate presentation for all ages.”

Through story-based classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun takes audiences on a journey through ancient China. Audience members were impressed by the seamlessness of the performance.

“The dance form really exceeds anything that I’ve ever seen before, and I’ve had the opportunity to see many different types of dances throughout the world,” Ms. Blackman said. “There is nothing quite like this. The blend of music, those who sang, and those who danced just uniquely wove stories together. And just when one story was ending, the next one came in from all over, from every place.”

“I loved the combination of cultural dances and storytelling,” Ms. Faris said. “The merging of Western instruments with Eastern instruments as well. So that was very fascinating because I know a lot about Western culture. And then, I loved the way they brought modern technology into the actual shows with the coming in and coming out. So the storytelling was really, really nice.”

Ms. Blackman said, “I would recommend it to friends, to families, to colleagues, to organizations.”

Ms. Faris said, “I want to encourage the performers to continue doing what they’re doing. It’s very beautiful to showcase your talents in this way for a worthy cause, for a very positive message. And the artistic director did a beautiful job. The colors, the combination of the costumes, the backdrop, it was just very well done. Thank you.”

Shen Yun will be performing in Orlando, Florida, from April 27 to the 28, as well as other cities across North America.
