COLUMBUS, Ga.—School teacher and artist Eduardo Pesante enjoyed Shen Yun’s evening performance at the River Center for the Performing Arts on Jan. 23.

Prior to coming to the show, Mr. Pesante did a bit of research online to see what Shen Yun was about. However, nothing prepared him for the beauty of seeing the performance live.

“I love how immersive it is with the background and all the graphics—the way they incorporated with the dance,” he said.

“Sometimes it’s hard to tell when something goes from real life to the graphics. It’s really cool. It’s really neat.”

Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Presenting a brand-new set of programs each year, the company has been delighting audiences around the world since 2006.
According to its website, Shen Yun’s innovative digital technology creates seamless interaction between the backdrop projection and the performers on stage. “By extending the stage to infinite realms,” this patented 3D invention brings to the audience “storytelling without limits.”
“It has some fantasy elements and then some of the [social] issues that are still going on today— which was neat. It’s just beautiful,” Mr. Pesante added.
A spiritual person himself, Mr. Pesante thought the song texts of Shen Yun singers were very relevant even to Westerners.

“Reading the lyrics [song texts] on the screen was really neat. I was trying to make a parallel and could see connections,” he said. “It definitely exuded a positive energy and spiritual energy.”

Referring to the vibrant colors presented in the show, Mr. Pesante commented that everything was “like a painting.”

“Everything was so bright and lively. [The colors] created a nice parallel to the costumes as well,” he expressed.

“The artists did an excellent job. Very beautiful. I can see how much hard work went into the performance, and I appreciate it.”
