ST. LOUIS— Beauty was in the air on Valentine’s Day at the Peabody Opera House. Some attendees dressed in red, some held a single rose. And those on stage, Shen Yun Performing Arts company, brought elegance and grace to all in attendance.

“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales,” according to the company’s website.

Bill Wunderlich, from Wunderlich and Associates, and his wife Nancy, who works at her husband’s firm, attended and thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the performance.

“Oh, I thought it was awesome,” Mrs. Wunderlich said. “I thought the colors were just wonderful. The dancing, the history, the culture, it was all very enjoyable.”

She said the performance left her feeling very happy. Mr. Wunderlich also enjoyed the colors and classically trained dancers.

Each dance in the program displays different folk dances and customs, or the rich and varied depth of Chinese legends, myths, and actual history through the vehicle of classical Chinese dance.

Interspersed between the dances were vocal and instrumental soloists.

Of the instrumentalists, both loved the erhu, the Chinese two-string violin.

“It’s beautiful—I closed my eyes,” Mr. Wunderlich said.

Mrs. Wunderlich would absolutely recommend the show to her friends. “I would say that you will see a lot of culture and history of the Chinese and a lot of beautiful colors and dancing,” she said.
