Shen Yun Performing Arts has arrived in Bordeaux, marking its second stop in France with a six-show run from Dec. 27 through 31, 2025.

Performing at the Arkéa Arena, the New York-based classical Chinese dance company captivated the heart of Southwest France with its mission to revive 5,000 years of Chinese culture.

Audiences praised the production’s world-class artistry, breathtaking precision, and vivid storytelling brought to life through vibrant costumes and striking digital backdrops.

Theatergoers remarked on the high level of professionalism and synchronization displayed by the dancers.

Florian Ravet, CEO of a company, exclaimed that the performance was amazing and highlighted the musical depth of the show: “I found the French horn accompaniment outstanding, and the performers were truly top-notch, showcasing stunning acrobatics and beautiful costumes.”

Echoing this sentiment, company director Jayesh Vir observed the rigorous discipline required for such a feat, stating, “You can really tell they are professionals who have worked incredibly hard; every step is so perfectly timed that it’s truly brilliant.”

Pascal Rain, former CEO of Siemens Medical Systems, described the experience as “bring[ing] such well-being, positivity, and incredibly positive energy, and an enchantment that almost makes you feel like a child again.”

Audience members said the performance immersed them in the heart of 5,000 years of ancient Chinese civilization.

Mr. Vir pointed out that the show provides a rare cultural window: “Actually, this performance brings us right into Chinese culture in a way you don’t really see on TV. We are truly at the heart of it, especially the ancient times dating back over a thousand years—and that’s what I love about it.”

Mr. Ravet suggested that the production offers a vital global perspective, noting: “I think this show can allow the world to see China from a different angle. Perhaps not the one shown on the news, but a deeper China. It allows us to see a thousand-year-old civilization.”

Mr. Rain described the experience as “a magnificent fairy tale ... that takes you away from your daily life and lets you see the mastery of both ancient and modern art. These dedicated performers convey such powerful emotions, and you leave the show feeling filled with wonder and positivity. ”

Beyond the technical skill, spectators emphasized how Shen Yun immersed them in an authentic vision of ancient China. Mr. Vir interpreted the performance as a call to remember one’s roots: “I think [Shen Yun] sends a message that we should hold on to our heritage. Modernity is fine, but there needs to be a good balance between the old—especially tradition—and the new. We must not forget our roots or where we come from.”
Finally, Mr. Rain expressed hope that the show’s themes would inspire a more mindful society. He shared: “I believe [Shen Yun] can offer a sense of optimism. At some points, it invites us to return to fundamental emotions and care for one another instead of drifting into combative attitudes. I truly hope for a message of optimism, but even more so, one of reflection and mindfulness.”
