WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.— Governance expert Dr. Yvan Allaire said Shen Yun Performing Arts brought him “a feeling of great harmony.” Dr. Allaire saw the performance Tuesday, April 15, at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
Shen Yun aims to bring to life highlights from 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. Through performances of ethnic and classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun tells stories from Chinese history through the present day.
“Outstanding, brilliant, absolutely impressive,” is how Dr. Allaire described Shen Yun. “The color, the dancing, the harmony, the synchronization—it’s really an outstanding performance!” he said.
Dr. Allaire is a professor in Montreal and a governance expert with the World Economic Forum, where he is the executive chair of the board of directors at the Institute for Governance of Public and Private Organizations (IGOPP), Canada.
He said Shen Yun left him with “a sense that the world is a great place.”
It wasn’t just the harmony and energy of the performance that impressed Dr. Allaire. The visual presentation impressed him as well: “the costumes, the color, the visual effects.”
He commented on Shen Yun’s digital backdrop. Rather than physical sets, Shen Yun uses a projected digital backdrop that interacts with the dancers and aids in storytelling. In some programs, dancers seem to enter or exit through the screen, soaring off into the clouds or up to the moon. “The visual effects are great. People moving in and out of the screen is quite exceptional,” Dr. Allaire said.
Mankind’s Shared Purpose
Computer architect Jose Reyna also attended the Tuesday evening performance. He said the performance was very excellent and entertaining and shared his understanding that “the Chinese people have a heritage that everyone else can relate to.” Mr. Reyna is the owner of Velolux, which designs computer systems for Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Reyna said the performance gave him a sense of mankind’s shared purpose in the world and a feeling of enlightenment. “It makes me think that all humanity is in sync in the same purpose,” he said.
