San Diego Officials Congratulate Shen Yun on 20 Years of Perseverance and Integrity

ESCONDIDO, Calif--Escondido, one of the hosting cities of Shen Yun Performing Arts in the greater San Diego area, will welcome Shen Yun’s 2026 performances on Jan. 27 to Jan. 29, 2026.

Prior to the opening night, Mayor White and the City Council members “proclaim January 27-29, 2026, as Shen Yun Performing Arts Celebration Days in the city of Escondido and extend sincere congratulations and best wishes to Shen Yun Performing Arts on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, with appreciation for its artistic achievements, cultural contributions, and enduring spirit.”

This year is the 20^th time Shen Yun graces the stage of California Center for the Arts in Escondido, the Mayor wrote in the proclamation, “during its 20 year history, Shen Yun has grown into a world renowned performing arts organization, presenting original productions, each season and capturing audiences across the globe with artistic excellence, cultural authenticity, and spiritual depth.”

And the city expresses its gratitude to Shen Yun Performing Arts for “enriching the cultural life of the city of Escondido and providing residents and visitors the opportunity to experience a vibrant expression of global heritage.”

Other San Diego area officials also sent proclamations and certificates to mark this significant milestone.

‘Triumphs Over Tribulations’

California State Senator Minority Leader Brian Jones sent a proclamation to “honor Shen Yun’s 20th anniversary for their outstanding service in support of freedom of belief and expression.”

He said in the proclamation, “For Shen Yun, the past 20 years is a journey of triumphs over tribulations, and an embodiment of courage and strength which defies Beijing’s continued attempts to interfere.”

According to Shen Yun’s website, the Chinese regime has been waging a disinformation war against Shen Yun as they tour around the world, in an attempt to stop Shen Yun’s efforts to revive the culture and expose the human rights abuses happening in China.

In the proclamation, the Senator points out that “Shen Yun is still not allowed to perform in China. But outside of China, Shen Yun artists have sparked a cultural renaissance and awakened the universal values that connect the world’s people.”

The City of San Marcos also commends Shen Yun’s “unwavering dedication” and congratulates Shen Yun on its 20^th anniversary, “in the face of tremendous odds, Shen Yun has brought about the revival of the timeless arts and authentic traditions.”

Mayor John McCann of the City of Chula Vista, the 2^nd largest city in San Diego County, wrote a letter welcoming Shen Yun to Southern California, “as Shen Yun embarks on its 2026 World Tour, which began in France in December 2025, we are excited to welcome your return to Southern California.” He said, “Your 20-year journey is a powerful testament to creativity, resilience, and triumph over adversity.”

‘A Heritage of Courage and Wisdom’

Through a certificate of commendation, County Supervisor Jim Desmond “extends heartfelt congratulations” to Shen Yun. “Your dedication to the arts has not gone unnoticed, especially in your efforts to show the world the beauty and virtue of China before communism. We are so proud of the artistry you’ve displayed, and we are inspired by how you use your talents to share a heritage of courage and wisdom.”

County Supervisor Joel Anderson proclaims Shen Yun for “uplifting and inspiring audience members throughout San Diego County with the themes of kindness, tolerance, loyalty, and faithfulness presented in Shen Yun shows.”

CA Senator Akilah Weber Pierson said in a certificate: “Your commitment to cultural heritage is inspiring, and we celebrate your contributions to keeping these traditions alive.”

‘Extraordinary Talent and Discipline’

CA Assemblymember Laurie Davies “congratulates Shen Yun Performing Arts on the production of a culturally inspiring performance, celebrating 20 years of artistic excellence.”

In the certificate, Davies says that “Shen Yun’s achievement reflects the extraordinary talent and discipline of Shen Yun’s performers, musicians, and production team. Shen Yun continues to captivate audiences with a visually stunning and emotionally powerful experience. I commend the entire organization for presenting such a wonderful show and sharing classical Chinese culture.”

The City of Santee congratulates Shen Yun for “entertaining audiences with classical Chinese dances and music for 20 years with a mission to revive traditional Chinese culture around the world.”
