VALENCIA, Spain— “Wonderful, wonderful—spectacular! Above all, the synchrony among all the artists and the artistry that permeates the performance are so beautiful. It touched us very deeply.” With these words, retired physician and former university professor Enrique Mora Américo praised Shen Yun Performing Arts after attending the company’s performance in Valencia, Spain.

Mr. Mora previously worked as a physician specializing in rehabilitation and physical medicine and also taught at the physiotherapy faculty of the University of Valencia. Now retired, he attended Shen Yun’s opening performance of the 2026 season on the evening of March 7 at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. The purity, compassion, and beauty presented on stage left a deep impression on him.

“The level of the show is extremely high. The dancers are impressive, and I loved the traditional instrument played by the musicians,” he said. “It’s music you sometimes hear in movies in the background, but seeing it live, you realize how impressive it is. And the orchestra is also excellent—very good. Perfect, perfect, perfect. They can be very proud of what they are doing, both for the artistic level and for the message they convey. I think that is the most important thing.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive traditional Chinese culture. Since its founding in 2006, the company has presented an entirely new program each year, captivating audiences around the world.

“I think that apart from the show itself, there are many stories and many messages,” Mr. Mora said. “They remind us again and again that we should think more about things that transcend the material, that God is there, and perhaps we have forgotten that. The world is going down and down, and we must try to go up, up. I think that is the most important thing I saw—of course, besides the fact that I loved the show.”

Mr. Mora was particularly grateful for Shen Yun’s efforts to preserve and share China’s cultural heritage.

“Traditions, religions, customs—and above all the message they convey—are important,” he said. “Regardless of what one may or may not believe, the message is that we are all brothers and sisters, that we should leave materialism behind and move forward.”

Through classical dance, Shen Yun revives traditional culture that has been destroyed under the Chinese Communist regime. By vividly portraying China’s ancient, divinely inspired culture on stage, the performance offers many audience members an eye-opening experience—one that stands in sharp contrast to the atheism prevalent in China today.

Mr. Mora said the performance gave him a clear sense of spiritual connection.

“Yes, very clearly,” he said. “That is extremely important, and unfortunately, it has been forgotten—a lot.”

He went on to say that this spiritual message is very important for today’s world, especially for people in China.

“The artists have a mission,” he said. “I didn’t know much about it before, but I understand they have been doing this work for many years. It’s impressive.

“The unfortunate thing is that they cannot present this in their own country, in China, where it is most needed, because that place has become a paradise of materialism. That materialism is invading all of us. We should try to let them influence us in another way.”
