FÜSSEN, Germany—On April 11, the Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein in Füssen, Germany, welcomed two performances by Shen Yun World Company. Both were sold out well in advance, drawing enthusiastic audiences. At the conclusion, audience members responded with standing ovations, and the artists returned to the stage three times to acknowledge the warm reception.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to experience such a wonderful performance,” said Jörg Agthe, mayor of Sigmarszell. “The performance was fantastic—it is like immersing yourself in a sea of colors, an experience for all the senses,” he said.

“You experience wonderful music and a truly delicate performance, with a level of perfection that is rarely seen anywhere,” he said. “From the first to the last moment, I was constantly filled with new impressions—it is something truly unique. It is a wonderful experience, not comparable to any film recording; something like this exists only in reality.”

Mr. Agthe was particularly impressed by the stage design and visual presentation. “The stage backdrop is very beautiful, and in a wonderful way it combines reality with this fantastic setting, which is closely modeled on historical China,” he said.

He also appreciated the tenor’s performance and its message. “It was really wonderful and also carried a message that has a lasting effect,” Mr. Agthe said.

Shen Yun’s singers are trained in classical bel canto—a style known for its ability to create tones of unparalleled beauty and purity. Through original compositions and lyrics, the artists invite the listener to explore the deeper meaning of life.

Reflecting on the lyrics, Mr. Agthe shared his understanding of their deeper meaning. “I would say that, ultimately, we should not forget traditional values or cast them aside, because they are what we have experienced and what we are,” he said. “We learn this from history, and our history and our traditions shape us—they are what we are rooted in. Cutting off the roots, for a tree or any plant, means the end—and it would be the same for humanity. That is why it is always important to know where we come from and where we are going in life.”

Mr. Agthe also reflected on the broader themes presented in the performance. “I believe the message conveyed here is that nature is something very special, that we should not forget tradition, and that the unity between humanity and nature is important,” he said. “It also takes into account human coexistence, and perhaps conveys the message that a peaceful political culture is always beneficial.”

Finally, he recommended the performance to others. “I would truly recommend that others go and see such a performance. It is an enrichment for all the senses—for perception, acoustically and visually, and also for inner feeling,” Mr. Agthe said. “At times, you even get goosebumps, and you also take away a message from the experience—something that combines education and enjoyment.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired heritage and share with audiences the beauty of China before communism.

Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Shen Yun is touring the world with eight equally sized companies, bringing this vibrant cultural renaissance to audiences around the globe.
