MIAMI—David Romero-Fischman, a physician, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on the afternoon of March 13. Romero was very impressed with the performance, “Chinese culture is very interesting, and the dances were very beautiful. There’s a lot of themes [in the show] and very informative.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. The mission of Shen Yun is to revive China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture and share it with the world.
Romero was also impressed by Shen Yun’s patented animated backdrop effect. “The Shen Yun artists have practiced quite a bit; the performance was flawless. The timing of going inside and coming out from the backdrop was perfect. It was very well done.”
“The music is very peaceful, very calming.” The one that I really like was the instrument.
Shen Yun features a live orchestra with both classical Western and Eastern instruments, including the erhu, suona, and pipa. “The music is very peaceful, very calming.” Romero said, “That instrument [erhu] actually to me was the most touching.”
The spiritual message of Shen Yun moved Romero. He said, “The spiritual message was basically there’s one creator, and that is a very important message. I really like that.”
“We believe there is one creator. We need to believe in something superior to us. That’s a fact. No matter what religion you are, it’s a fact.”
