PHILADELPHIA—The City of Brotherly Love is eagerly anticipating the appearance of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Miller Theater from May 7 to 11.
Philadelphia often hosts Shen Yun and has joined the praise of audiences around the world each time since Shen Yun’s inception in 2006.
“The artistry is magnificent,” Delaware state Rep. Lyndon Yearick said. “The beauty of the dance is visual and so impactful that it has no language. You have to be engulfed and just mesmerized by the beauty of it all.”
“Off the scales! Very skilled people, very skilled performance, very flexible, I cannot even express, honestly. It’s a joy and an absolute blessing to be here and see this performance,” she said.
Shen Yun tells stories from the traditional culture of China as well as the modern persecution and suppression of Falun Gong practitioners by the communist regime.
Greg Thomas Jr., an executive director of commercial development, said: “The way that the show tackled very challenging topics in a way that was very easy for everyone in the audience to understand. I think that this was probably, outside of other movies and film, our first exposure.”

Emily Ferrell, a state judge in Delaware, visited China and said that Shen Yun represented on stage all the beauty that communism in China had sought to destroy.
“All the beautiful colors, it’s just so peaceful, and I like the wonderful message behind it,” she said.
Retired company owner Jeff Russell said that Shen Yun’s mission is wonderful because “art should reflect the reality of what’s going on in the world, what we can become, and what we’ve lost.”
Shen Yun’s performance offers educational insights into traditional Chinese culture, which many in the audience enjoy.

Bill Gordon, an accountant, brought his daughter, who dances, and expressed how important it is to teach the next generation about history.
“I think it’s important; otherwise, they will forget it. They won’t know the history. So I think it’s very important,” he said.
Jonathan Ireland, president of an investment firm, brought his family to Shen Yun.
This year, as Shen Yun is set to perform in over 200 cities around the world and across five continents, the 2025 touring season is shaping up to be the artists’ busiest yet and a glorious treat for theater goers.
