PHOENIX—Real estate owner and investor Esther Meehan was deeply moved by Shen Yun Performing Arts’ portrayal of heaven when she attended the company’s second performance at the Symphony Hall on March 7.
“I love the atmosphere. I love the energy. … There were so many pieces that were very touching.” She especially enjoyed the piece that depicted divine beings descending to earth to help the people in need.
Having suffered a heart attack three years ago, Ms. Meehan felt that she was given a second chance to enjoy life, and that God kept her on earth for a reason.
Shen Yun “was one of the things that I felt was waiting for me,” she expressed. “So, I really much like it, very good.”
Though Shen Yun is well-beloved by audiences around the world, it is currently forbidden by the ruling Chinese regime from performing in China. In fact, many of Shen Yun’s founding members had fled to America to escape persecution by the communist party.
“It’s too bad you can’t share it in China. … I think people need to hear it, people need to see it to bring us all together,” Ms. Meehan lamented. “If we stay together and we share each other’s belief— it'll be a much better and beautiful world.”
“I’m so glad [the dancers] spent so much time learning the steps and doing so well. It just goes to show you that if we have faith, and we keep practicing, we can do a lot with the power of God,” she stated.
“The universe will help us. So, just keep faith, keep going. It’s awesome. It’s fantastic. Keep it up.”
