HIGH WYCOMBE, UK—Shen Yun Performing Arts captivated audiences at Wycombe Swan Theatre the afternoon of Feb. 25. Among those in attendance were medical scientists Richard Kozlowski and Susan Kozlowski, who were seeing Shen Yun for the first time and were full of praise for the performance.

“Excellent,” Mr. Kozlowski said of the performance. “I appreciate they must have put in hours and hours of practice to put this show on.”

Mrs. Kozlowski agreed, praising the performers’ artistry. “The dancers are incredible. Their dedication to their art is obvious when you see them dance.”

Describing the atmosphere in the theater, Mrs. Kozlowski said the performance was “exhilarating.”

“You want to see everything. You want to see it all, and you can’t. There’s so much going on,” she said.

Both also expressed their appreciation for the live orchestra. “It’s very, very good,” Mr. Kozlowski said. Mrs. Kozlowski added she has always enjoyed live orchestras and appreciated how Shen Yun’s orchestra integrates traditional Chinese instruments with the Western symphony.

A lover of history—especially ancient history—Mrs. Kozlowski said she particularly valued the historical depth presented on stage. “Knowing the story behind some of the historical aspects, I enjoyed that,” she said.

Mr. Kozlowski emphasized the importance of preserving tradition through artistic performances. “The history of it all, and what they were explaining—it’s a tradition going back so many years. It’s important to bring that to today and realize how much tradition has been kept alive by performances like this.

“Because otherwise, if people don’t realize tradition was there in the past; the traditions will be lost. It’s important to educate people nowadays about old traditions ... It’s so easy to lose those traditions.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, on a mission to revive traditional Chinese culture. Since its founding in 2006, the company has presented an entirely new program each year, captivating audiences around the world.
