FRANKFURT, Germany—On the evening of May 3, after attending Shen Yun’s performance at the Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt, René Gräber, a well-known columnist in Germany’s natural health sector, expressed deep admiration for the artistry and dedication of the performers.
“This performance was beautiful and entertaining,” Mr. Gräber said. “Most audience members probably do not realize how much training is required to achieve this level of artistry.”
Mr. Gräber particularly praised the performers’ elegance.
“They were remarkably graceful, especially the female dancers in their beautiful costumes,” he said.
He added that the discipline behind live performance is often overlooked today.
“In today’s world of computer-generated imagery and AI-driven films, young people may not fully understand the immense effort these performers put into a production like this,” he said.
Mr. Gräber paid particular attention to the moral themes conveyed in the performance, including the idea that good and evil are met with corresponding consequences. He observed that such ideas are shared across spiritual traditions.
“It sounds almost as if it comes from the New Testament,” he said, “but I believe the Buddha conveyed similar teachings. Although I am not as familiar with Buddhist teachings as I am with Christianity, the parallels are clear.”
“The depiction of the Monkey King was brilliant,” Mr. Gräber said. “And the content about Falun Dafa was presented very clearly; I think everyone in the audience understood it.”
Mr. Gräber was also deeply moved by the finale, in which the Creator descended to earth to save people with conscience and compassion, accompanied by celestial maidens dancing across the stage.
“The female dancers looked like fairies,” he said. “Especially with those costumes, they truly appeared like heavenly beings.”
For Mr. Gräber, some of the performance’s transcendent scenes carried a profound emotional impact. Reflecting on the moment when the golden Falun appeared spinning on stage, Mr. Gräber repeatedly described himself as being “deeply touched.”
