HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Investors Michael and Kim Riley said they were both looking forward to seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Dolby Theatre on May 3.
“I’m very pleasantly surprised,” said Mr. Riley. “It’s exceeded my expectations.”
“I’m having a great time, and it’s been wonderful,” said Ms. Riley.
Each Shen Yun performance features a wide selection of classical Chinese dance vignettes, folk and ethnic dances, story-based dances, a full live orchestra with both Chinese and Western instruments, and musical soloists. The company puts on an all-new performance every year.
“Very impressed so far. Looking forward to the next chapter,” he said during the intermission. “The visuals, everything is great.”
As far as the traditional cultural aspect of the performance, Mr. Riley appreciated the company’s endeavor to introduce ancient China to a modern audience.
“Especially in today’s world, you know, this is old world Chinese and it’s bringing [it] into the new world, the new culture,” he said. “I think it’s wonderful. I think they’ve done a great job.”
Ms. Riley said the couple has been wanting to see Shen Yun for some time, and this was finally their year.
