BERLIN, Germany—“It was absolutely wonderful. I had heard so much about it and seen numerous advertisements online. Each time I thought, ‘Wow! It looks amazing—I must experience it in person.’” Cornelia Kaminski, who finally realized her wish to see Shen Yun, said. “Honestly, I was completely thrilled. It was even more beautiful than I had imagined.”

On the evening of Feb. 10, 2026, Ms. Kaminski attended the fourth and final performance of the Shen Yun New York Company’s 2026 tour at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the German capital.

Ms. Kaminski is a prominent figure in Germany’s conservative social movement.  As the federal chairwoman of the pro-life association ALfA e.V., she frequently represents the organization in media appearances and serves as a key spokesperson on conservative ethical issues in Germany.

“What struck me most was that even without prior knowledge of the story, I could understand its meaning through the dancers’ gestures, facial expressions, and entire body language. They brought the narrative to life so vividly, leaving a profound impression,” she said. “Of course, the technically demanding feats—the acrobatics and jumps—were truly amazing.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive traditional Chinese culture. Rooted in Confucian, Buddhist, and Taoist values, this culture emphasizes reverence for heaven, moral values, mutual respect, kindness, and tolerance. However, it was nearly destroyed by decades of communist rule.
Ms. Kaminski was particularly captivated by the legend of Emperor Kangxi. “I found the program where the emperor disguised himself to help the poor especially touching,“ she said. ”Someone in power humbled himself to help the very poor, sparing no effort—even confronted local elites fiercely. That is an inner attitude that I actually miss today, across the board, in many governments.

If leaders could focus a little more on the people, listen more closely to what truly benefits them, think a little less of themselves, and show a bit more humility—that would be wonderful.”

She continued to reflect on the performance’s deeper message: “What gave me hope was the deep faith I sensed throughout. I was impressed that you can fill an entire hall with such a profoundly religious and spiritual message—and use it to truly resonate with people.”

The Performance Awakens the Divine Within

Ms. Kaminski believes Shen Yun awakens “something that has been buried but is still there. And that’s very good because it helps us integrate this beautiful message, this good message, into modern society, to make it resonate in our society.  So that made me happy and hopeful.”

“It’s a transcendent message telling us that a higher form of life still exists,” Ms. Kaminski described the message she received.

“We have a responsibility to this higher authority, to a being greater and more powerful than us—a benevolent presence. For His sake, it is worth doing good in this moment, in our lives.”

Finally, Ms. Kaminski said she would highly recommend Shen Yun: “If you wish to know what China would be like without communism, attend this performance. If you desire to know what a transcendent society grounded in spiritual faith looks like, see this performance. It is filled with messages of hope.”
