Shen Yun Performing Arts closed the curtain in Berlin with two final performances at the Deutsche Oper Berlin on Feb. 10. One politician in the audience was particularly impressed by the performance.

“I kept seeing the [Shen Yun] ads online, and every time I thought, ‘Wow, that looks amazing, so acrobatic!’ I really wanted to experience it live and today, I was absolutely thrilled. It was even better than I'd imagined,” said Cornelia Kaminski, Germany’s federal chairwoman of the advocacy group Action for the Right to Life for All (ALfA).

“What impressed me the most was that I probably could have understood the stories even if they hadn’t been announced beforehand, because they were conveyed so expressively, with gestures, facial expressions, and the whole physical movement. That totally impressed me. And then, of course, the acrobatics, those jumps, that was really amazing.”

Markus Flasche, an assistant member of the German Bundestag, said, “I really enjoyed it. Both the performance and the stories told were impressive. And I was particularly impressed by the precision of the artists and the dancers overall.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun was established in 2006 to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism.” A culture that for thousands of years, believed in cultivating virtues and upholding morality.

“What I found impressive [about this show] is that it’s obviously possible to fill the hall with this very spiritual message. And I see that we’re resonating with something in people that has been buried but is still there. And that’s very good because it helps us to translate this message, this good message, into the present—to make it resonate in our society. That made me happy and hopeful,” Ms. Kaminski said.

Ms. Kaminski added, “This is a message of transcendence. It’s a message that there is a higher being, a Divine being, that resides somewhere within us all, and that it must be awakened, but also respected and honored. And that we have a responsibility towards this higher power—not towards our neighbor, not towards ourselves—but there is someone else who is higher and more powerful than we are. This is someone good for whom it is worthwhile to do good in life, here and now.”

“I would say it’s a very, very exciting event. It’s really beautiful and done with so much love. And, as I said, the music and dancing are fantastic. I can highly recommend it,” said Joshua Ermann, also an assistant member of the German Bundstag.

“If you want to know what’s possible in a China without the Communist Party, then watch this show. If you want to know what’s possible in a society that embraces transcendence and spirituality, then watch this show. It’s a very hopeful message,” Ms. Kaminski said.

Shen Yun, which continues on its 2026 world tour, will be returning to Germany on March 4 for six performances in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In the meantime, performances can been seen in France, Switzerland, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Spain.
