Among them were Arantxa Ubide Gimeno, a grain merchant from Zaragoza, and her husband, José Luis de la Blanca, an administrative professional in the railway manufacturing sector. Experiencing Shen Yun for the first time, both described the experience as strikingly different from anything they had encountered before.
“It was spectacular—truly incredible,” Ms. Ubide said. “The colors are astonishing, and it conveys so many sensations we’re not used to seeing. The dance is so subtle, so refined … I’m moved because it’s genuinely beautiful.”
She described the performance as something that reaches beyond technique, touching something deep within.
“It’s like seeing the soul in motion,” she said. “It’s something we truly need. I’m grateful they bring this to us and show another way—something very necessary in our Western world.”
Mr. de la Blanca was equally impressed. “It’s something surprising because we’re not used to seeing this culture here. It conveys Eastern traditions very well—its values and customs are expressed clearly and beautifully.”
One aspect that stood out to both was the richness of the storytelling and its emphasis on shared human values.
“I see that they approach life very differently,” Ms. Ubide said. “They focus on inner values. It’s not about one individual—it’s everyone working together, as if we all belong to something greater. Together, they create something truly beautiful.”
She added that these values are not only relevant but urgently needed in modern society.
“They are absolutely necessary,” she said. “People today are disconnected from one another. But here, you see happiness, calm, and tranquility—it’s something we all need.”
She added, “It speaks directly to the emotions. It’s pure emotion—unlike anything we experience in daily life.”
Mr. de la Blanca highlighted the production’s visual and musical excellence, describing it as almost otherworldly.
“The orchestra feels celestial,” he said. “It’s so perfect that it almost doesn’t seem real—you would think it’s recorded, but it’s live. That level of precision is astonishing.”
He was equally impressed by the vocal performance.
“It sounded so real, so flawless, that it didn’t even seem like it was coming from the singer—it was spectacular,” he said.
Both expressed heartfelt gratitude to the artists for bringing this cultural experience to Spain.
“Thank you—please keep going. We need this,” Ms. Ubide said. “Your mission is reaching people and must continue.”
“Congratulations, and thank you for bringing this culture here,” Mr. de la Blanca added. “We are learning from it.”
Encouraging others to attend, Mr. de la Blanca emphasized the uniqueness of the performance.
“I would recommend it because it’s something outside the ordinary,” he said. “It makes you reflect and brings something meaningful—it really reaches you deeply.”
For Ms. Ubide, the message was even more direct.
