“Magnificent, magical, visually stunning, the colors, the dancers, the sets—it was truly amazing,” Alain Priet, a former chief mechanic with Patrouille de France, told NTD.
“It’s not the first time I’ve come, which shows how much I appreciate it, but it’s still just as spectacular. There’s a unity of movement, it’s graceful, and the costumes are light, so they swirl around the dancers,” Gérard Jacques, a retired doctor, said.
Mr. Priet said of Shen Yun, “Very elegant, truly. A very high-level performance, both musically and in the dance and artistic execution. It was magnificent, really, really beautiful.”
Dr. Jacques said, “It’s so beautiful, you’re moved from beginning to end. And every time, you’re just as moved. I almost have tears in my eyes.”
William Svoboda, a former banking executive, said, “There’s also humor. It allows us to discover China through its traditions and history. It’s actually my first time attending this type of show. I find it extremely enjoyable and very well done. It’s a really good time.”
“It’s quite extraordinary, I have to say it’s really impressive, especially the choreography and the special effects. It also teaches us about Chinese culture, since I’ll admit, I’m not very familiar with it. It definitely makes you want to learn more about it. We really enjoyed it—honestly,” Christian Augé, a doctor, said.
Mr. Svoboda said, “There aren’t many shows like this. It offers a way to discover a nation like China, given its importance and the legacy it has left to other countries, and vice versa. Ultimately, China has contributed a great deal in terms of philosophy and way of life, and I think it is important to see that expressed through this form of musical and dance performance.”
“You can’t describe it, you have to experience it,” Dr. Jacques said. “People need to come and experience it for themselves. Beyond the visual enjoyment, it leaves you with reflections and it truly touches the heart.”
