ROME, Italy—Shen Yun Performing Arts presented two performances in Rome, Italy on March 18. Tickets were in high-demand, and audience members said they were glad to have booked their tickets in advance.

Alessandra Rossi, a former diplomat with the United Nations, said, “ I got to know the company when I was living in New York. Now that I’m back in Rome, I didn’t want to miss this performance. It was a spectacular show, with stunning stage design and an overall presentation that was simply magical.”

Roberto Verna, a professor of clinical pathology, said Shen Yun was “very well put together, very well thought out.”

“The dancers were perfect, highly skilled, with great talent and perfect coordination, truly a beautiful show,” he added. “The sets and colors evoked the essence of traditional Chinese culture, while the digital backdrop was distinctive as well, presenting a series of fresh and captivating ideas.”

“I am deeply impressed by the superb artistry and dedication of the Shen Yun artists. I hope to convey this spirit to the employees of my company,” Luisa Franchina, the president of the Italian Association of Critical Infrastructure Experts, said.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism,” through classical Chinese dance and music—a culture the ruling communist regime has been seeking to destroy since taking power in 1949.

Ms. Rossi said “It’s a commendable mission because China’s millennia-old Buddhist meditative tradition must be preserved.”

“I’m a martial arts practitioner and a China enthusiast, so seeing how they lived and how they want to convey what it was like is incredibly moving,” business owner Giordano Quattrocchi said.

The audience appreciated Shen Yun’s singers and pianist, while gaining insight into the meaning of the lyrics.

Ms. Rossi said, “The soprano is very good, but it’s different from our opera. So it’s not an aria you can sing in the shower. However, it was very beautiful because of the lyrics and the meaning she wanted to convey, that life has a purpose.”

Mila Marcucci, a dancer, said, “It is a complete production because the dance is beautiful, The orchestra and the singer bring emotion, and the interaction between the digital backdrop and the dancers is really not to be missed. It is beautiful.”

Ms. Franchina said, “The performance was amazing. I come to see it every time Shen Yun comes here.”

“The set design is also very beautiful because there’s this magical effect where they emerge from the stage. I still haven’t figured out how they do it, I’ll try to unravel this mystery, but it really is a show that’s absolutely not to be missed, so I recommend it to everyone,” Ms. Rossi said. “I was truly delighted, and I want to congratulate all the artists who worked on this show because it really is a marvel.”

Shen Yun will perform in Lyon, France, from April 6–12.
