SÃO PAULO, Brazil—Shen Yun Performing Arts gave a performance in São Paulo, Brazil, on May 2, transporting audiences on a journey through ancient China. Theatergoers shared their appreciation for the New York-based production and of the traditional history presented on stage.

Jane Hernandes, a former ballet dancer, said, “The costumes are wonderful and the technique is perfect. I am a dancer as well, so you can compare. It is wonderful. The performance is beautiful.”

Luciane Tsuji, an ophthalmologist, said, “I am feeling ecstatic with the performance. Everything is beautiful, the costumes impeccable, the performances truly very beautiful. Loving the show.”

“An incredible performance, with a super magical setting. The orchestra also adds a special touch and makes everything even more magical,” Fabricio Teixeira Garramona, a professor, said.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism.” Theatergoers also commented on the beauty of the performance.

Miriam Berton, a musician, said, “In China, science and music are very interconnected. Music also heals, and here, we can see the value of spirituality—spirituality connected with music.”

Ms. Berton added, “They are strengthening moral values for society. In this show, we see the depth that spirituality has.”

Mr. Garramona said, “The performance conveys all this greatness that we can experience through music.”

“I agree as well. I think it gives a sense of peace, of lightness. We leave feeling much better after this performance,” Ms. Tsuji said.

Shen Yun will be performing in Porto Allegre, Brazil, from May 9–10.
