On the evening of March 28, 2026, Ms. Kumar, a finance team lead at a construction company, attended Shen Yun’s tenth local performance at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney, Australia, together with her husband, Varun Kumar, a department manager responsible for procurement and supply chain. The final piece, depicting salvation, left a profound impression on the couple, leading them to reflect that the Creator is the ultimate master of the universe.
Sharing her thoughts, Ms. Kumar said that people often believe they are in control of everything, but that is not the case. “In this world, we keep doing good or bad to others, and sometimes we think we are the ultimate supreme power. But that is not true. Whatever we do, one day God will respond,” she said. “Just like in the performance, when the tsunami came, and everything was collapsing, in the end, the divine appeared and saved everyone from danger.”
Mr. Kumar added that he arrived at a similar realization. “We should respect how others choose to live, and help them whenever we can,” he further elaborated. “Some people become successful in life—they gain recognition and wealth—and then it is time to give back to society. I think some people find their sense of salvation in that.”
The couple also praised Shen Yun’s storytelling, which they felt seamlessly connected China’s past and present.
Ms. Kumar added that the performance ultimately elevated to a higher theme. “They reached up to salvation,” she said, “The way they told the stories was so beautiful.”
Ms. Kumar shared that the message she took away was both simple and profound. “What I learned is to follow a simple life, do good to everyone, believe in God, and keep doing good deeds. You will receive everything in return. He is watching you—He is the ultimate supreme power.”
She continued, “Always be honest, and never do anything wrong to others. If you keep doing good, God will save you and protect you. The performance conveyed so many beautiful messages—I was truly mesmerized.”
Mr. Kumar summed up the message more simply: “They are trying to say—be simple and live honestly. I think that is the message.”
Ms. Kumar highlighted the enduring nature of traditional culture. “As they explained, classical Chinese dance evolved through different dynasties, but its core techniques and cultural essence have remained. That was really impressive,” she said.
Having just seen the performance, the couple is already looking forward to next year. Ms. Kumar said, “What’s wonderful is that every year they bring new dance forms and new performances, so we are already looking forward to the next one.”
