Taiwanese Elected Officials Welcome Shen Yun

TAIPEI, Taiwan—Shen Yun Performing Arts, the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, will be performing from Feb. 24 to Apr. 2 in five major Taiwanese cities—Miaoli, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Changhua, and Taipei.

Shen Yun kicked of the first of its 32 performances in Taiwan with a matinee performance on Feb. 24 at Miaoli’s Miaobei Art Center. Four performances will be given in three days, and tickets have already been sold out.

President of the Legislative Yuan, You Si-kun, president of the Examination Yuan, Huang Jong-tsun, and nearly 70 senior officials and elected officials sent their greetings to welcome Shen Yun’s fifteenth visit to Taiwan.

“Shen Yun’s performance is full of wisdom, magnanimity, and hope. The elevation and inspiration it has provided for the heart and soul during the global pandemic has been deeply meaningful.”

Fourteen members of the local government, 39 legislative members, and 10 local dignitaries welcomed Shen Yun back to Taiwan.

Government Ministers Welcome Shen Yun

You Si-kun praised Shen Yun’s outstanding artistry; Huang Jong-tsun praised the company as being peak perfection and full of power; vice president of the Legislative Yuan Tsai Chi-Chang praised Shen Yun for being pleasing to both the eye and the heart; Interior Minister Lin Yu-chang praised the company for its sublimity.
Minister of Mainland Affairs Council Chiu Tai-san praised Shen Yun as “pleasing to the soul and the ear, with the beauty of the heavens.”
Deputy minister of the Mainland Affairs Council Chiu Chui-cheng welcomed Shen Yun with the words, “With divine skills and beauty, may [Shen Yun] be known all over the world.”

Shen Yun Welcomed to Taiwanese Cities

Shen Yun will be giving 32 performances in 5 major Taiwanese cities. The mayors from each host city welcomed Shen Yun by sending their well-wishes.
The mayor of New Taipei, Hou You-yi, sent wishes for successful performances. The mayor of Tainan, Huang Wei-che, said that Shen Yun’s dancers “look as though they are flying like divine beings, and their movements are beautiful and elegant.” The mayor of Kaohsiung, Chen Chi-mai, said that Shen Yun “connects the past with the present, and touches people’s hearts.”

Mayors from 11 other cities and counties sent their welcome messages as well.

Hsieh Kuo-liang, Mayor of Keelung City, said, “Shen Yun is exquisite, and is a beacon in the world of art.”

Magistrate of Yunlin County, Chang Li-shan, who had a performance before, said, “The overall way in which the inner meaning behind Shen Yun’s performances are presented on stage can be representative of classical art in the modern day, and is a new way of progressing culture and art.”
