“As Utah’s 3rd Congressional District Representative, I express my sincerest gratitude for your travels to Utah. Your performance, and its theme ‘China before Communism,’ will show how important freedom of expression is,” he said in the letter.
“Censorship and the ills of communism have echoed throughout history, and I am beyond overjoyed that your talented team has found freedom in the United States, away from communist China. Utah welcomes your talented team and beautiful performances with open arms.”
State Representative Clint Okerlund also sent a congratulatory letter to Shen Yun. In his letter, he stated:
“This world-renowned company is dedicated to reviving the authentic essence of China’s 5,000-year-old traditional culture—a heritage of profound beauty, spiritual depth, and artistic splendor. Shen Yun invites you on a breathtaking journey through ancient legends, heroic tales, imperial courts, and heavenly realms. Each performance weaves timeless virtues such as compassion, courage, and harmony into vibrant stories brought to life through classical Chinese dance at its finest.”
Shen Yun performed at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City for five performances from March 13–18.
Mr. McMillan participated in the production of the well-known American movie “High School Musical,” which was released in 2006.
This is the third consecutive year that Mr. McMillan has come to see Shen Yun with his wife, who is learning Chinese.
This year, the McMillans also brought their daughter, who sings a solo in her school choir.
“I was really excited,” Piper McMillan said. “I wasn’t expecting all of that. That was so amazing. I was really shocked. They did so well, and I was really happy with it.”
