MISSISSAUGA, Canada—Julia Morgan, a jewelry designer, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on March 15 at the Living Arts Centre and said that she was “deeply moved” by the performance, especially the storytelling.
Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Its mission is to revive China’s traditional culture and present the beauty of China before communism. Through the universal language of dance and music, Shen Yun brings ancient legends to life on stage, taking the audience on a journey of 5,000 years.
“The storytelling is one of my favorite parts of the show. The stories were deeply moving and very relatable. From ancient stories to today’s stories, it is always the same morals that are important.“ Ms. Morgan said, ”The things that are important in life, love and faith and sharing with each other, that message got across very, very well.”
“Compassion, tolerance, and divine love were the biggest themes that I got out of the show. Spirituality is as important now than it’s ever been.” Ms. Morgan said that she could see all these in Shen Yun’s dancers.
Shen Yun’s artists are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.

Ms. Morgan said, “The dancing was absolutely, and the choreography, just stunning. So impressive! You can see how much they love doing this and how much they care about this show, and that you can feel that when they’re up on stage, you can feel it.”

She loved the spirituality of the show and thought it was very important in modern times. “The spirituality came through very beautifully. Love and unity make us all divine in a way. And it is so important to show the spiritual side, it matters in the modern world.”

“If people have faith, good things will come in, even in a place where it seems really dark and there are very bad things happening around the world.”

Ms. Morgan was impressed with “every aspect of the show, it was special and unique.”

“I absolutely loved the choreography. The dancers are incredible. The orchestra, the music is fantastic. The special effects were great. The emcees were wonderful.”
