Ms. Gerado, a former professional dancer trained in jazz, tap, and lyrical dance, now teaches students at her own dance school. She praised Shen Yun’s dance performance, calling it classical and beyond perfect.
“Everything was absolutely beautiful—it was breathtaking,” she said.
She further explained that what stood out most was the continuity within each movement. “I loved how the lines didn’t just stop—they kept extending, as if the movement never truly ended,” she said. “In between each step, you could feel that the motion was still going,” “That’s really hard to do.”
For Ms. Gerado, who experienced Shen Yun through her professional lens, the dancers’ synchronization particularly impressed her. “I noticed the transitions within the dances and between them—everything was spot on,” she said, noting the high level of difficulty involved. “Everyone has to move at the same time and know exactly where each person will be. They move as one.”
“Their skills are 10 out of 10—more than 10 out of 10,” Ms. Gerado said. “It’s extremely challenging—you don’t get to see something like this in your lifetime. It was truly a great experience for me tonight.”
Mr. Urato, who owns a hardscape construction business, said he had long anticipated seeing Shen Yun live. “Shen Yun has been on my bucket list for many years,” he said. “Growing up and seeing the commercials, I’ve always wanted to experience it live.”
Beyond its visual beauty, Mr. Urato felt that the concept of “the beauty of divine beings dancing” really resonated with him, because the performance conveyed a sense of purpose and spirit. “I think it shows a kind of divine beauty, and standing up for what you feel is right,” he said. “You can express yourself in any way you can. Obviously, they use dance as their way—almost like their ‘weapon’ of choice—and that’s how they fought their battles.”
In closing, Ms. Gerado said she would strongly recommend the performance to others, just as it had once been recommended to her. “It’s a beautiful show—something you must see in your lifetime,” she said. “It’s something you need to experience for yourself.”
