CHICAGO—The Civic Opera House was alive with excitement and anticipation awaiting the performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts on May 3.
Mrs. Tretyak, a former runway model and beauty studio owner, said, “The whole show was very, very impressive for me. This is my first time here, and I enjoyed it. It’s actually as though I was inside some fairy tales.”
Although she had not heard about Shen Yun, her husband had wanted to see the production for a long time. “He encouraged me to come, and I love it.”
Many audiences have commented on the wonderful positive energy that flows from the performance.
Mrs. Tretyak said, “The energy of the show was amazing. I had goosebumps all the time, especially with all of the [stories] and fairy tales. It feels so real. It was amazing.”
She was moved by the opening scene that presents heavenly beings following the Creator to earth to save mankind.
Mrs. Tretyak spoke of Shen Yun’s important role in awakening people. “It’s like giving people hope. There is a Creator that always takes care of them, but they have to believe in the Creator,” she said.
“In our religion, we also believe that the Creator will come and save us from all of this darkness, especially what is going on right now in the world.”
Mr. Tretyak said he grew up with a belief in God from his grandparents. “I believe that’s my tradition,” he said.
He saw in Shen Yun a spiritual message that when people have a hard time, with the Creator’s help, everything’s good. “Absolutely. I know that God is everywhere,”
“That’s some show,” Mr. Tretyak said. “It’s amazing. I’m impressed with the outfits and dancing.”
Mrs. Tretyak enjoyed the stories of people in rural villages. “They still believe in light, in God the Creator. They get the most from life. It’s better when people have no fears. With God’s help, they can get everything they want. They can heal themselves; they can create heaven around themselves. So it’s awesome. All the stories were amazing.”
“The actors are amazing. They did a great job, all of them,” Mrs. Tretyak said. “Beautiful stage, everything. I mean, if people [are] still thinking if they should come and enjoy the show, I think they should because it’s just beautiful.”
“We'll come back next year for sure. We’re going to tell our friends to come in and enjoy this beautiful show because it’s really worth it,” Mrs. Tretyak said.
