SAN LORENZO DE EL ESCORIAL, Spain—On the afternoon of March 1, the stage of the Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo de El Escorial shimmered with color and motion as Shen Yun New York Company took the stage.
Among those in attendance were Esther Jurado, a college dance instructor in nearby Madrid, and her husband, Santos Perez, a former mathematics professor. For the couple, the performance was not only visually stunning but artistically extraordinary.
Ms. Jurado also emphasized the production’s vibrant palette. The couple had just taken their seats moments before the curtain rose. “As soon as we sat down, we were greeted by brilliant lights and splendid colors—extraordinary. The show is wonderful,” she said.
Mr. Perez likewise offered high praise. “It is wonderful and highly recommended,” he said. He particularly enjoyed the piece featuring the Monkey King, noting the seamless integration between the performers on stage and the animations in the backdrop—a patented special effect by Shen Yun. “The synchronization was incredible and completely unexpected. The way the performers appeared and disappeared into the digital scenery perfectly aligned with the music and imagery—astonishing.”
“It made me very sad,” she said. “All the programs are excellent, but that one truly touched me. It is shameful that such things are happening in the era in which we live. There are no words.”
Reflecting on the production as a whole, Ms. Jurado expressed admiration for the vision behind it. “I understand the sacrifice and dedication that a performance of this level requires,” she said. “The artistic director of Shen Yun must be a true visionary in the world of art to accomplish something like this. I offer my heartfelt congratulations.”
