TORONTO–Company president Danny Dinardo was among Toronto business leaders who took in Shen Yun Performing Arts’ evening show at the Sony Centre on April 23.

Mr. Dinardo, president of Integrated Building & Design Corp., highly recommended the experience.

“I would recommend it to anyone that wants to expand their horizons and understand how wonderful [Chinese] culture is,” he said.

“If they want to expand their understanding of the art, of the culture, the music–many facets.

New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, currently on it’s tenth tour of Eastern Canada.

Through classical Chinese dance accompanied by an East-meets-West orchestra and state-of-the art backdrops, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s 5,000-year-old semi-divine culture.

Investor Tony Saldutto was also at the performance, and said the experience had a calming and magical effect.

“It just seems to flow really well. It almost puts me in a meditative state actually,” he said, adding that he felt “calm but engaged.”

Positive energy radiating from the performers is a common observation from Shen Yun audiences. This may be because the performers aim to embody the traditional Chinese values they play out through stories on stage. Values such as benevolence and justice, propriety and wisdom, and respect for the heavens make up the core of traditional Chinese culture, which originates from the three main schools of Buddhism, Daoism, and Confucianism.

Mr. Saldutto said the positive energy and beauty flowing from the stage had him transfixed.

“It’s just mesmerizing really. You lose yourself in it,” he said.

“The show is fantastic: Costumes are amazing, music is amazing, and the dancing is magical.”
