BOISE, Idaho—Chelsea Taylor is an expert in ballroom dancing and while classical Chinese dance isn’t quite the same, she would still give Shen Yun Performing Arts a 10 out of 10.

“It was a 10 out of 10. They were amazing. They were great,” said Ms. Taylor, who is also a videographer.

Shen Yun is based in New York and its artists are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.

“It was gorgeous. It was beautiful. I judged that. It looked very good. So it was lovely,” Ms. Taylor said.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. Chinese civilization was once known as the land of the divine. Steven Taylor, a home inspector and business owner, noticed that faith was a fundamental part of Chinese culture.

“I think faith is very important. It’s what brings us all together,” Mr. Taylor said.

In Shen Yun’s performance, human rights and giving a voice to the oppressed is something that has always been important to the company.

“I think spreading the message is definitely important,” Mr. Taylor said. He believes that people having faith and standing up for their faith is crucial.

Every season, Shen Yun puts on an all-new production which includes the choreography, compositions, costumes, and backdrops.

“The performance was amazing. It was very moving. Just all of the costumes, the bright colors, the interaction with the media behind it. It was very impressive,” Mr. Taylor expressed.

Mr. Taylor also appreciated how the last piece, “The Creator Has Arrived,” was a well-rounded conclusion to the performance.

“The very end—it just kind of wrapped everything together,” he said.
