NEW YORK—On March 25, Shen Yun Performing Arts presented the first New York performance of its 2026 season at The David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center.

Among the audience was Alba Bollati, a bank vice president, who left the theater inspired and enchanted.

“I absolutely loved the show—it’s such a great show,” Ms. Bollati said. “Shen Yun transported me to beautiful classical Asian times. It’s something I’ve never seen anywhere else. It’s a great production, and I really enjoyed it.”

She marveled at the performers’ speed, grace, and vibrant costumes. “The dancers are so fast, so graceful, so colorful—it’s amazing,” she said.

Ms. Bollati was particularly captivated by the female dances. “I really loved the women’s performances. I love their dresses and the colors—they are stunning,” she said.
Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired heritage and share with audiences the beauty of China before communism.

“It’s a good mission,” Ms. Bollati said. “Everyone should pay homage to past generations and be free to practice whatever they feel.”

While Shen Yun shares traditional Chinese culture with audiences around the world, it is unable to perform in China.

This fact saddened Ms. Bollati. “It’s heartbreaking,” she said. “I was born in Europe and have some understanding of the communist system, but I don’t think it’s right. Everyone should be free to believe and practice as they choose,” she said.

The soprano soloist also left a strong impression. “She was great—her voice was so beautiful. Absolutely spectacular,” Ms. Bollati said.

Shen Yun’s singers are trained in classical bel canto—a style known for its ability to create tones of unparalleled beauty and purity. Through original compositions and lyrics, the artists invite the listener to explore the deeper meaning of life.

Beyond the artistry, the performance left a personal mark. “It definitely inspires you—to be free and to be one with nature,” she said.

She concluded with a strong recommendation for others to experience the show. “It’s a wonderful show, unlike anything else. It’s a way to express yourself and a truly beautiful experience you need to see for yourself,” she said.
