Audience members were amazed at the beauty of Shen Yun Performing Arts at its two performances at St. Johns River State College in Orange Park, Florida, on Feb. 10–11.

“It’s my dream come true. I’ve been saying I want to see Shen Yun, and then this dream came true. They’re so amazing,” Sachiko Hirokawa, a ballet teacher, said.

“So with the dance [there] is no language, no words, so they have to express the emotion through the body. So we can understand all the story with no words, and then their face and then their reaction, the body language was touching my heart. And then, there’s no words, there’s no wall between the stage and audience.”

Bret Blackshear, a musician, said, “I love all the dance and the color. The water dance in particular was fantastic with the sleeves and the choreography is just absolutely amazing. And some magical effects in there, too. The live orchestra is also very, very fantastic to hear. It’s absolutely wonderful, and I’ve been stunned the entire time for the level of musicianship that’s going on, as well as the craft of the dance.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism.” Traditional Chinese culture has been under attack since the Chinese Communist Party took power in 1949.

“I think it’s going to be very close to the end of this repressive system for you guys and for all the other countries in the world that are still under suppression. Despite the suffering, your faith and the strength of the love that you are transmitting with your performance. It’s being heard around the world so keep doing the good job,” Melina Orozco, a veterinarian, said.

“I feel like it’s quite sad. It’s something that a lot of the world has to deal with unfortunately. But the way that they’re bringing it to light is beautiful. I think it’s a mission that’s needed and quite powerful,” Veronica Lacy, a company director, said. “It is phenomenal. Just learning about the culture and seeing different things. This is something new for me. So I have never seen anything quite like this.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the world since 2006. Their performance features dance vignettes and an orchestra with a unique blend of classical Western and Eastern instruments. Theatergoers also commented on the themes of spirituality and faith within the show.

Beth Acampora, an acupuncture physician, said, “It’s just so wonderful and it’s so wholesome and fantastic to see such talent and amazing dancing and music. I’m always so impressed every time we come. I look forward to it every year. I can’t wait to see it again next year.”

Ms. Acampora appreciated “the wonderful blend of the classical music and the different instruments together. And I remember studying in Chinese medicine how music was used to heal people. And it just makes your heart feel so refreshed and renewed to see something so beautiful and pure and such a wonderful story and philosophy. And I think that’s something that our cultures can share is the idea of a Creator and us living with kindness.”

Ms. Orozco said, “The art is on a high level of performance and the beauty of the show, I think it’s in the energy that the Creator put on it. The healing energies of the music, the beauty of the show and the message of hope. It really touched my heart. And today, I was not disappointed. It’s a completely different show compared with day one last year. But it’s absolutely profound and beautiful. So I’m really happy that I was able to make it here today.”

Shen Yun will be in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from Feb. 17–18 as it continues to perform in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America on its 2026 world tour.
