GUADALAJARA, Mexico—Alfonso Jiménez and Luzma Serpa González enjoyed Shen Yun Performing Arts when they attended the Santander Performing Arts Ensemble in Plácido Domingo Hall on May 9.

Mr. Jiménez, a former banker who now works in real estate, said, “The set design was beautiful, and the dancers’ coordination was excellent. Overall, it was very nice, and it also gave us a glimpse into Chinese history.  Overall, all of them were very beautiful. “

Ms. Serpa González said, “I thought it was fabulous, incredible. The coordination of the performers, the dancing, the costumes, the set design. Everything was beautiful, and the orchestra was sensational.”

She especially liked “You Reap What You Sow,”  a fairy tale in which an elderly couple helps a young boy.

“The one with the child asking for help, asking for food, and no one helped him except the elderly couple. That one really touched me,” she said.

She noted the fluid quality of the dancers’ costumes. “I liked the way the costumes moved. Everything was so coordinated; it really transports you into what they’re portraying,” she said.

Shen Yun features a live orchestra with both Eastern and Western instruments that play together.

Ms. Serpa González said, “The music—incredible. Something that really caught my attention is that the musicians are all young people.”

She said Shen Yun is “fabulous because it introduces us to the [Chinese] world—even if we don’t know much about the history—in a very enjoyable way.”

“It also transported us. It brought us a lot of Chinese culture in a pleasant event,” Mr. Jiménez said.

Mrs. Serpa González gave her best wishes to everyone at Shen Yun. “I congratulate and admire them, and I think the way they live their lives is wonderful. It’s truly incredible how they share their country’s history and art with the world, above all.”

She said it was “a tremendous show. Congratulations to all the artists and musicians. I thought they were incredible.”

Mr. Jiménez said, “Wonderful coordination, and they also set a great example for young people all over the world, wherever they perform. I congratulate them. Their event was wonderful.”
