LOGROÑO, Spain—On the evening of March 13, Shen Yun Performing Arts captivated a full house at the Riojaforum Theatre in Logroño. Among the audience was Heriberto Vidal Rey, a retired veterinarian from Asturias, who traveled a considerable distance once again—continuing a travel tradition he began last year with his motorhome group.
“Since last year, we are a group of motorhome travelers. So last year I looked at the list of where they were going to perform, saw they were performing in Ávila, and said: well, okay, to Ávila. And this year, as soon as the publications came out regarding which cities they were in, I said, ‘Well, let’s go to Logroño, and that’s it. Here we are,’” he said.
For Mr. Vidal Rey, the experience continues to exceed expectations.
“The performance is always magnificent—always magnificent,” he said. “It is really difficult to outdo themselves year after year, yet they do outdo themselves each time. It becomes more beautiful, and the message grows deeper every time.”
Mr. Vidal Rey shared that the message conveyed through the performance resonated strongly with him.
“The message includes returning to and restoring traditions, recovering beliefs, having respect for everything, and also a rejection of the atheism of modern times,” he said. “I believe these are all righteous and proper.”
Reflecting on this year’s performance, Mr. Vidal Rey said he found it impossible to single out any one piece as the most impressive.
“Everything was so magnificent, so wonderful, and the messages so meaningful that I loved it all,” he said. “I couldn’t say that one part was better than another.”
He added that he is encouraged to see Shen Yun’s growing popularity.
“What pleases me greatly is that I see the theaters are always full—always full. That is truly encouraging,” he said. “Through publicity, success, and also word of mouth, more and more people are coming. In fact, these friends came with us because of our recommendation.”
He concluded with a heartfelt recommendation to all who haven’t had a chance to experience Shen Yun.
“I would say, don’t miss Shen Yun for anything in the world,” Mr. Vidal Rey said. “In fact, if possible, people can do as I have done—come year after year. In my heart, I intend to keep coming every year whenever I can.”
